We hadn’t initially planned on being part of the 2011 Mariposa Agri-tour until late in the signup process, and were surely pleased so many guests arrived.  We hope they all learned a little something about this vine incredibly fast growing vine.

So, we threw together a little screened-room for a product display.

Pest control can be very difficult in this hot, dry & dusty environment.  Nearly all of the 600+ plants in the larger greenhouse  were completely infested with spider-mites.

Our sole treatment was water and, after 4-weeks, the vines displayed well for discussion.

Near total devastation: because the plant and fruit grow extremely fast, estimates are that this greenhouse suffered an 80% loss in product due to these pests.  As such, we continue with our Trial Study.

The walk to the greenhouses was a bit tough for some, so Brandy provided ‘gratis’ water to all our guests.  We ferried some as well.  Brandy was a great deal of help this weekend.

Two days before and, 1 of 2 for a 5-day period...

This 11-button, 4-foot critter was located adjacent our home, up the hill & was antagonizing the dog and cat.  Comfortably small, he was dispatched immediately.  Note that at 2,300 ft. above sea level, rattle snakes do exist.

While we do our very best to keep the area clear and snake-safe as best we can^*, keep an eye out when visiting.  This is a no-joke part of California.

Coyote, poisonous & other snakes, fox, potentially wolf and bear, meat-eating bees, wasps, rabbits, gopher holes... we have it all here.  Guests are warned and reminded that they are solely responsible for any injury incurred due to these and any and all other such hazards and, this company, its’ property, personnel and business owners are to be held harmless in any legal action that might be presented in any planned litigation.
